Emirates airline has announced the suspension of check-in for passengers departing Dubai on Wednesday, April 17, as a result of heavy rains that lashed the UAE on Tuesday. The Dubai-based carrier issued a statement, informing passengers to anticipate delays in both departure and arrivals.
The airline’s spokesperson stated, “Emirates is suspending check-in for passengers departing Dubai effective 08:00hrs on April 17 until midnight (00:00hrs April 18) due to operational challenges caused by bad weather and road conditions.”
Affected travelers are advised to reach out to their booking agents or Emirates’ contact center for rebooking options. However, passengers already in transit and those arriving in Dubai will continue to be processed for their flights, albeit with expected delays.
Dubai International (DXB) airport, which experienced temporary diversions of inbound evening flights on Tuesday due to the adverse weather, assures that departures will proceed as scheduled. The airport authorities are actively collaborating with response teams and service partners to normalize operations swiftly and minimize inconvenience to travelers.
Emirates emphasized their commitment to restoring scheduled operations, promising full support to affected customers. Meanwhile, Dubai Airports urged passengers to stay updated directly with airlines regarding their flight status, allow extra travel time to the airport, and utilize the Dubai metro whenever possible.
