A two-bedroom apartment is among the prizes Dubai shoppers can compete for this summer, as the emirate prepares to launch one of its busiest seasonal programmes. Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE) confirmed that Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS) will run for 60 days, from 2 July to 30 August 2026, under the banner ‘Make it a Dubai Summer’.
The standout addition this year is Win Your Home in Dubai, a citywide draw run jointly by DFRE and Dubai Chambers. Shoppers who spend AED 500 or more at participating outlets enter for a chance at one of 12 residential units supplied by Binghatti Developers: 11 studio apartments plus a grand prize of a two-bedroom home. DFRE describes the scheme as a first of its kind, with entries collected across Eid Al Adha and the festival period and the first winner to be named during DSS itself.
Two waves of retail discounts
The shopping calendar is split into phases meant to sustain interest over the full run. The Great Dubai Summer Sale anchors the early stretch, offering markdowns reaching 90 per cent alongside flash deals and brand-specific promotions. From 3 to 30 August, the Back to School push takes over, covering classroom supplies, clothing, electronics and student tech.
DFRE has signalled that hotel and restaurant value will weigh more heavily in this edition than in previous years, with added perks promised throughout the season.
Concerts, carnivals and indoor running
The entertainment programme leans on the expanded Beat the Heat DXB concert series, which DFRE bills as its largest yet. Joining it is the Miami Musical Show, staged at Coca-Cola Arena on 28 August in its first appearance outside Kuwait; tickets are already listed on Platinumlist. Selected malls will additionally stage the newly introduced DSS Performing Arts Fest across three weeks, featuring themed acts, roaming performers and community events.
Food has its own slots in the schedule. Summer Restaurant Week runs from 13 July to 2 August, handing over to the 10 Dirham Dish promotion from 3 to 30 August. Shoppers wanting to stay active can join the Summer Mallathons, an indoor exercise option suited to the heat.
A weekend-long back-to-school event
For the first time, the festival will host a Back-to-School Carnival on 7 and 8 August, a mall takeover designed around family activities rather than straightforward shopping. The August stretch also brings stage shows and themed installations tied to the back-to-school theme, while Modesh World returns to Dubai World Trade Centre for younger visitors. Opening weekend will see several malls mark the festival launch with summer-exclusive performances.
DSS 2026 lists Commercial Bank of Dubai as its key sponsor, with strategic partners including Al Futtaim Malls, Al Zarooni Group, AW Rostamani Group, DHAM, Emirates Airline, ENOC, e&, Majid Al Futtaim and talabat. DFRE said the remainder of the calendar will be confirmed over the coming weeks.
