Dubai honours artist behind Nad Al Sheba roundabout sculpture

Dubai authorities have recognized Emirati artist Latifa Al Saeed for her work on Al-Sarmadi, the striking sculpture at the Nad Al Sheba roundabout.

The steel installation features eight horses and 15 wave-like formations, symbolizing Dubai’s continuous growth and ambition. The structure stands 9.2 meters tall and spans a 23.5-meter-wide water body, incorporating 62 tonnes of iron and over 600,000 metal pieces. It took four months to complete.

Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), praised Al Saeed’s creativity, highlighting how the artwork reflects Dubai’s innovative spirit and deep cultural roots.
