Dubai International Airport will move an estimated 3 million guests through its terminals during the first two weeks of July, as the hub enters its busiest stretch of the summer travel season.
The rush kicks off on 2 July, when departures climb sharply as UAE residents begin leaving for their summer holidays. Traffic is forecast to stay above 200,000 guests on most days across the fortnight, peaking on 12 July, when the airport anticipates handling more than 225,000 people in a single day. Roughly half of all guests during the period will be passengers connecting between flights, a figure that underscores DXB’s role as a major transfer point linking destinations worldwide.
To manage the volume, Dubai Airports has rolled out a summer readiness plan alongside its oneDXB partners, and is asking travellers to plan ahead. Guests are urged to turn up no more than three hours before their flight and to complete check-in online when possible. Emirates passengers have additional options, including home, city and self-service check-in. At passport control, families travelling with children older than 12 can pass through the Smart Gates, while power banks and spare batteries must be carried in hand luggage rather than checked bags. Travellers are also reminded to confirm entry requirements and documentation for their destination before setting off.
People of Determination can access added assistance, from signposted accessibility routes to staff trained to help guests wearing the Sunflower Lanyard, along with a dedicated Assisted Travel Lounge in Terminal 2. For those needing help finding their way, DXB Express Maps offers gate and flight information through a scannable QR code.
Travellers passing through Terminal 3 will also find the I Heart DXB installation at Concourse B near Gates B28, where guests can upload a selfie to become part of a collective digital portrait of the city rendered in the colours of the UAE flag. The display expands with each traveller who takes part, and sits beside a wall of handwritten notes carrying messages of pride and gratitude. Participation unlocks rewards at selected airport shops, including souvenirs and special offers.
