Overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and relatives who gathered for government cash aid in Mandaluyong City on Monday, September 28, 2026, were urged by a Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) official to hold on to their faith despite the hardships they are facing.
Regional Director Falconi Millar encouraged the recipients to push through their difficulties and keep working toward a better and more hopeful life for themselves and their households. Millar stressed that perseverance and hard work would matter as the families moved forward with the help extended to them.
A total of 170 beneficiaries received assistance amounting to P9,145,000 from the department’s AKSYON Fund. The distribution took place at the PST Hall of the Blas F. Ople Building, at the corner of Ortigas Avenue and EDSA.
The fund runs under the government’s UPLIFT Initiative and is available to OFWs in crisis or distress. Those in need may go to or get in touch with the DMW Central Office, the nearest DMW Regional Office or Migrant Workers Office (MWO), or reach the agency online at https://dmw.gov.ph/contact-us.
The DMW said it continues to reinforce its assistance programs and systems in line with its mandate to protect the rights, welfare, and interests of migrant Filipino workers and their families, with the aim of making its services easier to reach and quicker to respond.
Through the AKSYON Fund, the department covers the urgent needs of qualified OFWs and their families who have run into financial trouble or other situations that call for government help.
