Former Ilocos Sur Governor Luis “Chavit” Singson has expressed his hope that Olympic gymnast Carlos “Caloy” Yulo will take the initiative to reconcile with his family, offering a P5 million reward as an incentive.
Singson, who announced the reward in recognition of Yulo’s achievements, emphasized that the money would be awarded if Yulo can unite with his family and his partner, Chloe San Jose.
During an interview at the opening of a new BB.Q Chicken branch in Alabang, Singson revealed his difficulties in reaching out to the athlete. “Wala. Walang maka-contact sa kanya, eh. Pero kinu-contact ko na siya lang kaya nakikiusap ako kay Caloy na ipakita niya na ngayon champion siya,” he shared.
Singson stressed the importance of family unity and called on Yulo to be a role model by reconciling with his mother, Angelica. “Dapat siyang role model at number one, pamilya. Kung anuman ang nangyari sa kanila, kalimutan na niya,” he said.
The former governor concluded with a direct appeal to Yulo, urging him to forgive and reconnect with his family. “Nakikiusap ako, kausapin mo pamilya mo, ‘wag mo na sila pahirapan dahil ‘yang gold na nakuha mo, hindi lang para sa ‘yo kundi para sa lahat, especially your family,” Singson stated, reiterating his offer of P5 million for the gesture of reconciliation.
