The Philippine Consulate General (PCG) has confirmed to a local media report that the bodies of three Filipinos, who tragically lost their lives during inclement weather last month, will be repatriated this week.
Citing a Khaleej Times report, the Assistance to the Nationals (ATN) section of the PCG stated that one of the deceased is scheduled for repatriation on Thursday, while the other two are expected to be repatriated on Friday.
Financial and necessary assistance will be provided by the Philippine government for the Next of Kin (NOK) affected by this tragedy.
The unfortunate incident occurred when torrential rain hit the UAE on April 16, claiming the lives of three Filipinos – one male in Dubai and two females in Sharjah. The PCG revealed that a 47-year-old Filipino male worker in Dubai succumbed to a fatal vehicular accident on a road damaged by heavy rains. Additionally, two Filipinas lost their lives in Sharjah while inside a vehicle submerged in floodwaters.
In light of the expected adverse weather across the UAE on Thursday and Friday, the PCG issued a reminder to their countrymen to prioritize safety. “Please remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to ensure personal safety and well-being during this period,” stated the PCG.
Philippine Labour Attaché John Rio A. Bautista emphasized the importance of obeying safety reminders from the UAE government to prevent further incidents and injuries.
Meanwhile, the National Emergency, Crisis, and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) urged employers to allow their employees to work from home as unstable weather conditions peak in the country.
