BINI brings five Philippine languages to Coachella stage and shoots to number 1 on global trending charts

Eight voices. Five Philippine languages. One desert stage that heard them all.

BINI’s second Coachella appearance — completing a back-to-back run at the Mojave stage in Indio, California — sent the group straight to No. 1 on global trending charts, capping a weekend that saw fans dance through songs spanning Tagalog, Bikol, Bisaya, Ilokano, and Batangeño.

The group opened in futuristic “warrior” outfits from Filipino designer Marian Zara, leading with “Strings” as a kind of linguistic introduction — each member, from Aiah to Sheena, representing a different Philippine tongue. Colet, Maloi, Gwen, Stacey, Mikha, Jhoanna, and the rest of the eight-member lineup then pivoted midset into purple Y2K-inspired costumes, also by Zara, before running through fan favorites including “Zero Pressure,” “Karera,” “Salamin Salamin,” “Blink Twice,” “Cherry on Top,” “Blush,” “Bikini,” “Out of My Head,” and “Pantropiko.”

The Coachella crowd — known for its indifference to unfamiliar acts — turned the desert floor into a dance floor.

Support from Manila arrived in person. ABS-CBN President and CEO Carlo Katigbak flew in alongside a contingent of network talent: Piolo Pascual, Anne Curtis, Maja Salvador, Darren Espanto, Kyle Echarri, Alexa Ilacad, and AC Bonifacio were all in attendance.

On Coachella’s official Instagram page, BINI has held a spot among the most-viewed performers since the festival’s first weekend, ranking alongside Justin Bieber and KATSEYE. Their “Pantropiko” clip had logged 30.4 million views as of posting — with Bieber’s “Daisies” leading the overall count at 153 million.

The group’s Los Angeles stretch continues April 21 with a performance at the Grammy Museum’s “Global Spin Live,” tied to their upcoming extended play “Signals.” Their Manila stop on the “BINI: Signals” World Tour — set for June 20 at the Mall of Asia Arena — has already sold out.
