The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has successfully prevented the entry of four sex offenders into the country in March. According to a statement released on Thursday, the BI intercepted these individuals, reinforcing efforts to uphold safety and security measures.
On March 16, an American national was denied entry through the Mactan Cebu International Airport (MCIA) after being found guilty of sexual misconduct with a 15-year-old minor in a US district court in Michigan.
Similarly, another American national faced entry denial at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 on March 22. He had a conviction in 2008 for third-degree criminal sexual conduct involving a minor female.
In more recent instances, a British national, previously convicted for possessing indecent images of children, was barred from entering the country on Good Wednesday. Another American sex offender, convicted for predatory sexual assault of an 11-year-old in 1989, was intercepted on Maundy Thursday.
Following their denial of entry, all four sex offenders were promptly included in the immigration blacklist.
