Atong Ang to file complaint against Totoy over missing sabungeros accusation

Filipino businessman and gaming tycoon Atong Ang is taking legal action against alias “Totoy,” the key suspect who recently accused him of masterminding the disappearance of over 30 sabungeros in the Philippines.

Ang is expected to file a formal complaint affidavit on Thursday, July 3, 2025, directly addressing Totoy’s explosive claims, which have reignited public scrutiny over a case that has remained unresolved for more than three years.

Totoy, one of six security guards arrested in connection with the abduction of cockfighting enthusiasts, alleged that the victims were killed and their bodies dumped in Taal Lake, naming Ang as the alleged figure behind the gruesome acts. Authorities, however, have yet to confirm the credibility of this claim, as Totoy has not submitted a sworn affidavit to support his accusations.

The Philippine National Police and the Department of Justice are investigating the claims, with both agencies underscoring the need for concrete evidence. The National Police Commission has also launched a parallel probe into the possible involvement of law enforcement officers, after Totoy’s statements hinted at a deeper network of corruption.

Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla earlier acknowledged the sensitivity of the case, describing the person allegedly behind the disappearances as “very powerful,” with connections that could reach influential institutions.
