Abu Dhabi prepares to redefine luxury living with world’s first health-focused island

A serene oasis nestled halfway between Abu Dhabi and Dubai, Al Jurf, is poised to become the world’s inaugural healthy living island. Spearheaded by Abu Dhabi-based real estate developer IMKAN in collaboration with the esteemed SHA Wellness Clinic, plans are underway to establish SHA Residences Emirates – a haven harmonizing holistic wellness, luxurious accommodations, and breathtaking natural beauty.

Scheduled for construction, the private island enclave will boast 86 villas, 49 apartments, and two penthouses, all offering direct beach access amid a picturesque coastline and verdant surroundings. Notably, the island’s historic significance, once frequented by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan for contemplation and pivotal discussions on UAE’s formation, adds a unique allure.

Raed Al Hadad, IMKAN’s Chief of Marketing and Sales, emphasized the island’s unparalleled attributes, including its azure waters, temperate climate, and storied past. Collaborating with the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, efforts are underway to restore and showcase the island’s historic palace as a cultural landmark.

Renowned for its award-winning wellness programs, SHA Wellness Clinic will anchor the island’s health-centric ethos, offering bespoke treatments and services tailored to enhance physical and mental well-being. With a clientele spanning global leaders, celebrities, and discerning individuals, SHA’s expansion to Abu Dhabi signifies a milestone in wellness tourism.

Al Hadad underscored the island’s holistic approach, integrating residential living with round-the-clock access to healthcare professionals, fitness trainers, and gourmet chefs. From detox regimens to personalized spa treatments, SHA’s programs promise transformative results, with Al Hadad himself attesting to significant health improvements.

Anticipated to be operational by 2026, the island will feature state-of-the-art amenities, including a helipad for seamless access and proposed waterway connections to Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
