New bridge to Dubai Harbour cuts travel time from 12 to 3 minutes

A new 1,500-meter bridge connecting Sheikh Zayed Road to Dubai Harbour is set to significantly reduce travel time to the popular seafront destination. The bridge, featuring two lanes in each direction, will reduce the current 12-minute commute to just three minutes.

Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), emphasized that the bridge would serve as a direct entry/exit point for Dubai Harbour and have the capacity to accommodate up to 6,000 vehicles per hour.

“The bridge extends from the fifth intersection on Sheikh Zayed Road (near the American University in Dubai) to Dubai Harbour Street. It passes by the intersection of Al Naseem Street with Al Falak Street and crosses over the intersection of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Street up to Dubai Harbour,” stated Al Tayer.

Abdulla Binhabtoor, Chief Portfolio Management Officer at Shamal Holding, the owner of Dubai Harbour, expressed the significance of the project, saying, “Upon its completion, the bridge will provide free traffic flow to and from Dubai Harbour… This project is part of our commitment to building extraordinary residential and tourist communities.”

Dubai Harbour, situated between Bluewaters Island and Palm Jumeirah, boasts attractions such as Skydive Dubai, featuring a 770-meter-long runway, making it a prime destination for residents and tourists alike.
