Filipino son surprises mother with P50,000 first salary gift

In a heartwarming gesture, a son from Pangasinan, Nick Velasco, left his mother, Mommy Laureen Velasco, pleasantly surprised when he handed her a bouquet of flowers and an envelope containing his first salary last November 24, 2023. Initially, Mommy Laureen thought it was a prank, but the touching act turned viral on TikTok, showcasing her pure joy upon discovering what was inside the envelope.

I am amazed, I was really surprised. He did everything to make me and his itay happy.”

The young electrical engineering graduate and board passer, currently working as a college lecturer at Tarlac State University, expressed his desire to buy a PS5 for himself and his brothers. Still, he chose to prioritize giving back to his parents, saying, “Simula pa lang po nung bata po ako, siguro po it may sound cliche, kung nakikita n’yo po ‘yung mga magulang n’yo every day na nagtatrabaho talaga pong papasok sa isip n’yo na, someday, ako naman ‘yung babawi sa mga magulang ko.”

Nick handed over his entire P50,000 first salary to his mother, with Mommy Laureen emphasizing her hope that he remains kind-hearted and that any future gifts will be saved for him.

Nick’s decision was made possible by the family arrangement where he resides with his father, who also works at Tarlac State University. The family’s daily expenses are shared among the siblings in Tarlac, allowing Nick to allocate his salary to his parents.

The heartwarming video of Nick’s gesture has already garnered more than 2.5 million views on social media, along with positive comments. Nick advises the public that if they wish to share their earnings, it should come from the heart and not be done for the sake of going viral.
