The Strong Group Athletics (SGA) sustained their winning streak in the Dubai International Basketball Championship, marking their third consecutive victory with a 104-95 triumph over Lebanon’s Homenetmen at Al Nasr Club on Sunday.
Despite a challenging start and trailing through the first half, SGA turned the game around in the third quarter, ultimately establishing a significant lead in the final quarter. NBA veteran Dwight Howard led the charge for Strong Group, scoring a commanding 32 points and securing seven rebounds, proving instrumental in the victory over Homenetmen, who boasted the talents of former Meralco Bolts import Zach Lofton.
SGA’s Kevin Quiambao contributed 19 points to the scoreboard, while teammates Andray Blatche and Andre Roberson added 18 and 13 points respectively. Blatche, in a particularly standout performance, scored all of his points from three-pointers in the fourth quarter.
On the Homenetmen side, Zach Lofton showcased his skillset, amassing a game-high 37 points, accompanied by 8 rebounds and 7 assists, yet fell short of securing a win against the formidable Strong Group squad.
Following a two-day interlude, Strong Group is set to face off against Beirut Sports Club in their pursuit of a fourth win. The match is scheduled for Tuesday, January 23, at 9:15 a.m. PHL time, promising another exciting game in the ongoing championship.
