Abu Dhabi Police have issued a stern warning to motorists against the dangers of performing stunts on the city’s roads, underlining the severe penalties for reckless driving. The warning followed the release of a social media video showcasing drivers engaging in perilous maneuvers on their vehicles.
The video captures a series of hazardous stunts: one driver is seen ‘skiing,’ balancing their SUV precariously on just two wheels. Another motorist performs ‘donuts,’ spinning their vehicle in tight circles, a maneuver often associated with racecar drivers. A third driver races at high speeds, leaving a trail of smoke and skid marks from their vehicle’s tires.
Abu Dhabi Police emphasized the severe consequences of such reckless behaviors. Offenders face a hefty fine of Dh2,000, accrue 23 black points on their driving record, and risk having their vehicle impounded for 60 days. Reclaiming an impounded vehicle comes with a substantial fee of Dh50,000.
