Two female immigration officers at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 have been pulled from their assignments and could lose their airport access after an argument between them turned into a brawl in front of travelers on Tuesday night, September 22.
Manila International Airport Authority general manager Eric Ines has recommended canceling the airport passes of both officers. The two will stay off their posts while the incident is being investigated.
“Nakakalungkot ang insidente na ito at nakakahiya. Sana kung may personal silang problema ay pag-usapan nila nang tahimik at hindi sa harapan ng mga pasahero na umaalis gamit ang paliparan,” Ines said.
Initial findings traced the fight to a remark by one of the officers, who told her colleague that her partner had to begin paying child support. Their voices rose until they were yelling at each other. The confrontation then got physical, with the two grabbing each other’s hair and slapping one another as passengers looked on.
Ines said he would ask Bureau of Immigration Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado to hold a separate investigation.
