Nursing education, professional certification and long-term career prospects for Filipino health professionals were on the table when a Czech delegation led by Senate Vice President Ladislav Václavec sat down with officials of the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) in Manila on September 23, 2026.
The Czech side signaled that it wants to bring in a larger number of Filipino healthcare workers, according to the DMW.
Václavec, a physician, met with Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac along with senior officials of the department. The agenda went beyond hiring and extended to how Filipino workers already in the Central European country are protected and how they can build on their skills while employed there.
“We appreciate the Czech Republic for being a good host to our Filipino workers and our strengthened labor bilateral ties. We always recognize our efforts to harmonize our processes and systems for better opportunities, protection, and skills advancement of Filipino workers while ensuring our mutual interest,” Cacdac said.
The two governments also took up their continuing exchange of information on how each side runs its labor system. That dialogue, the DMW said, is anchored on keeping migration between the Philippines and the Czech Republic fair, ethical and sustainable.
