The Dubai Dolphins Dragon Boat Team returned from Georgia with six medals after competing at the Mtskheta Dragon Boat Euro Cup 2026 on September 11–12.
Representing Dubai at the international competition in Mtskheta, the multicultural team earned one gold, one silver, and four bronze medals across several Senior A and Premier small-boat events. Their results placed the Dubai Dolphins third overall on the competition’s medal table.
The team’s gold came in the Senior A Open Small Boat 200m event, while its women’s crew secured silver in the Senior A Women Small Boat 200m. The Dubai Dolphins also collected bronze medals in the Senior A Mixed Small Boat 200m, Premier Mixed Small Boat 500m, Premier Open Small Boat 500m, and Premier Open Small Boat 200m.
The competition brought together crews from several countries and regions, including Georgia, Spain, and Doha, Qatar. The Dubai Dolphins traveled from the UAE to take part, with a roster representing multiple nationalities and a strong Filipino presence.
The international campaign adds to a decade of activity for the Dubai-based team, which has been part of the dragon boat community for 10 years. The organization brings together paddlers from different backgrounds and generations, with its team philosophy centered on the words, “One Team. One Boat. One Legacy.”
The Dubai Dolphins were founded by Coach Camilo Echavia, together with coaches Jun, Enrico, and Reine. The coaching group continues to oversee the team’s development and training both on and off the water.
Beyond its competitive program, the team is also working to introduce more people to dragon boat racing. The Dubai Dolphins welcome experienced paddlers as well as those with no previous experience in the sport.
Weekend training sessions are held at Jewel of the Creek in Deira, Dubai, where newcomers can learn the fundamentals of dragon boat racing while training alongside the existing team.
The Dubai Dolphins will return to competition on October 24–25, when they are scheduled to race at Shangri-La Abu Dhabi as the dragon boat season continues.
