The Department of Migrant Workers and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration delivered more than P304 million in assistance to 10,177 beneficiaries during the “Handog ng Pangulo: Serbisyong Sapat Para sa Lahat” service caravan on September 14, 2026.
The two agencies joined the nationwide caravan, held as part of the celebration marking the birthday of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., which brought government services and opportunities directly to overseas Filipino workers and their families.
DMW services reached 5,449 beneficiaries with total expenses of P214,335,000. The bulk of that went to the AKSYON Fund, which assisted 3,116 workers with P181,430,000. Livelihood distribution accounted for P32,905,000 across 2,149 beneficiaries, while medical assistance covered 136 people. The agency also facilitated the LIKHA awarding of 12 winners and operated an OFW Desk with a free hotline that served 36 clients.
OWWA services reached 4,728 beneficiaries with total expenses of P89,768,971.24. Its largest program, the Balik Pinas, Balik Hanapbuhay reintegration initiative, assisted 2,627 workers with P43,705,000. The Welfare Assistance Program covered 1,731 beneficiaries at P22,997,935, followed by disability and death benefits totaling P17,920,036 for 149 recipients. The agency also extended aid through Tulong Puso, ELAP livelihood, and scholarship grants covering 87 students at P1,700,000.
The caravan also featured 53 job fair events under DMW services, drawing 156 participating employers offering 37,109 job vacancies from licensed recruitment agencies and other employers.
The DMW said the caravan consolidated the efforts of multiple government agencies to bring wider and more meaningful support to Filipinos, including OFWs, across different parts of the country. Assistance offered under the program included AKSYON Fund aid, livelihood distribution, medical and welfare assistance, reintegration support, and scholarships.
The “Handog ng Pangulo” program is held annually to coincide with the President’s birthday, with participating national agencies and local government units rolling out simultaneous service caravans nationwide. In this year’s edition, agencies including the Department of Education, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of Agriculture, and Department of Agrarian Reform delivered health, agricultural, and social welfare services in provinces across the country.
