A tribute to UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan forms the opening chapter of the newest book from His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. Titled “The Messages,” the volume continues the work he began in his earlier release, “Lessons From Life.”
Announcing the book on the X platform, Sheikh Mohammed framed it as a collection of letters addressed to a wide circle of readers. “Brothers and sisters, life has taught me that our lives are intertwined with the stories of our nations. True wisdom is in contributing a chapter that future generations will value. As I near sixty years of serving our nation, I have penned a series of letters to my brothers, children, grandchildren, my team, my people, and to all who find our journey worth contemplating.”
The book gathers reflections accumulated across nearly sixty years of government service, positioning them as material for readers interested in leadership and personal development. Its purpose, according to Sheikh Mohammed, is to pass along guidance to those who will carry the country’s work forward, along with the teams who serve alongside him.
He described the writing as an effort to acknowledge how brief human life is while affirming that ideas outlast the people who hold them. “These letters are my way of acknowledging the transience of life, yet recognising that ideas can thrive and persist. I felt it necessary to leave a legacy that eases the path for those who will continue our work. These reflections are compiled in the book ‘The Messages,’ following up on ‘Lessons from Life.'”
Sheikh Mohammed singled out the first of these letters as one written for the President. “The first letter is a message to my brother and dear companion, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan,” he wrote, closing his post with a prayer for the nation and its coming generations, signed, “Your brother, Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum.”
