A Pasig City tourism consultancy that lured Filipino jobseekers with promised monthly pay of as much as P300,000 has been shut down for recruiting workers without a license, the Department of Migrant Workers said.
The pay was tied to hospitality and service jobs in Bulgaria, Germany, and the United Kingdom — among them chambermaids, cooks, waitstaff, and amusement park attendants — with offers running from P150,000 to P300,000 a month. Anecon Tourism Consultancy pitched the positions under the Au Pair and Ausbildung Program.
DMW Assistant Secretary Jerome Alcantara, together with the Migrant Workers Protection Bureau (MWPB), led the closure on September 4, 2026, after investigators confirmed the firm was placing overseas Filipino workers despite holding no recruitment license from the department.
The case began with a tip from immigration authorities. “Nagsimula ito sa referral report from the Bureau of Immigration nang makita nila na may 83 workers na nadeploy itong Anecon Tourism Consultancy, mostly to Bulgaria, 10 were offloaded, 70 ang nakaalis, so nagpa assist ang BI para maimbestigahan ito,” Alcantara said.
The department pressed jobseekers to vet companies advertising overseas work, warning that some mask recruitment behind travel services, visa consultancy, study-abroad deals, or training programs to reel in applicants.
The firm is the 42nd establishment padlocked by the MWPB this year for illegal recruitment, part of the push under President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to protect OFWs and pursue those who traffic or illegally recruit them.
