For Filipino passport holders, a Schengen visa opens the door to short-stay travel across much of Europe — up to 90 days within any 180-day period. But approval is never guaranteed, and where you apply can meaningfully shape your odds. MPQ Travel & Tourism – Philippines recently shared a ranking of the ten countries it considers easiest for Filipinos, based on recent approval rates and traveler experience.
Here’s their list, with a bit of added context on each destination.
Iceland — 97%. Long regarded as one of the most applicant-friendly Schengen states, Iceland has historically posted very low refusal rates and an efficient processing system. It’s a natural starting point for anyone chasing waterfalls, geysers, and the Northern Lights.
Lithuania — 97-98%. Consistently near the top of independent rankings as well, Lithuania is known for straightforward processing and shorter waits. Vilnius’s old town and the Baltic coast are the draw.
Latvia — 95-97%. Another Baltic option with a reputation for fast, transparent handling of applications. Riga’s Art Nouveau architecture and river landscapes make it an underrated stop.
Czech Republic — 95-98%. Prague’s historic center — the astronomical clock, Charles Bridge, and Old Town Square — anchors a country that has generally shown high approval rates for Filipino applicants.
Greece — 95-97%. Beyond the visa numbers, Greece pairs ancient history with island scenery, from the Acropolis to the whitewashed villages of Santorini.
Finland — 95-97%. A gateway to Lapland, the Northern Lights, and Helsinki’s design scene, Finland rounds out the Nordic options on the list.
Netherlands — 94-96%. One of Filipinos’ most popular application destinations, the Netherlands combines a strong approval record with easy connections across Europe. Amsterdam’s canals and the spring tulip fields are perennial favorites.
Switzerland — 94-95%. Famous for its Alpine lakes, mountain railways, and cities like Geneva and Zurich, Switzerland offers reliably efficient processing.
Spain — 94%. With deep historical and cultural ties to the Philippines, Spain remains a leading choice for Filipino travelers — Barcelona’s Gaudí landmarks and Madrid’s museums among the highlights.
France — 91-93%. The most-applied-for Schengen country overall, France caps the list. Paris, the Eiffel Tower, and the countryside beyond keep it at the top of many travelers’ wish lists.
Whichever destination you choose, a complete, well-documented application remains the single biggest factor in getting approved.
