Prosecutors in Alexandria, Egypt have launched an inquiry and requested a forensic autopsy to pin down exactly how a 65-year-old man died, and whether a blow allegedly delivered by his wife caused it, after investigators say the couple’s quarrel over cooking turned deadly.
The death took place inside their residence in the Al Mostamara section of Ameriya. Early findings from investigators indicate the argument began verbally before the wife allegedly brought a frying pan down on her husband’s head. He fell and did not survive the injuries, local media reported.
Neighbors were the first to raise alarm. After word of the man’s death spread and questions surfaced about how it happened, they contacted authorities, prompting officers and paramedics to arrive at the scene.
When police responded, they took the wife into custody and confiscated the cooking pan said to have been involved. The husband’s remains were moved to a morgue, where officials will conduct the examination ordered as part of the case.
