Drivers across the UAE can begin registering on August 17, 2026, for a nationwide road safety campaign that offers a reward for keeping a clean traffic record, with sign-ups running through a link posted on the Ministry of Interior’s social media account, @MOIUAE.
The “A Day Without Accidents” initiative, now in its latest annual edition, is led by the Federal Traffic Council under the Ministry of Interior and carried out together with police units nationwide. Officials have timed it to coincide with the return of students to classrooms on August 31, when roads near schools typically grow busier.
Motorists who register, sign the campaign pledge, and satisfy every condition attached to the program stand to receive a four-point reduction on their traffic record, according to the approved terms. Brigadier Juma Salem Bin Suwaidan, Director of the General Department of Traffic at Dubai Police and head of the campaign, said meeting all requirements is essential for anyone hoping to qualify for the deduction.
According to Bin Suwaidan, the effort sits within a wider Ministry of Interior push to strengthen road safety, an outcome he described as a shared responsibility resting on drivers, pedestrians, and everyone who uses the roads. He framed the goal as building a culture in which safe behavior becomes routine rather than a one-time gesture.
Much of the campaign centers on reinforcing specific driving habits. Bin Suwaidan pointed to checking that a vehicle is roadworthy before setting off, respecting posted speed limits on ordinary streets and in school zones alike, keeping mobile phones out of hand while driving, staying within marked lanes, leaving adequate space between cars, and giving way to pedestrians at crossings.
With the school term about to begin, the brigadier appealed to both drivers and parents to exercise patience and cooperation, noting that heavier congestion around schools calls for extra care to keep students and families safe.
Bin Suwaidan also looked back at earlier editions, crediting road users for the discipline and awareness they had shown and reading that response as a sign of deepening social responsibility. He said he expected the community to carry that same commitment into this year’s campaign and hoped for stronger outcomes still.
The initiative additionally sets out to acknowledge and reward those who consistently observe traffic rules, extending its aim beyond awareness alone to active recognition of compliant road users.
