Family, not travel itineraries, is what makes time off meaningful, according to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who used his social media accounts on Monday to reflect on what he considers most valuable about the holidays.
The message accompanied a photo the Dubai Ruler released of himself with three of his grandsons in London, according to The National.
“Life has taught me that the greatest investment during holidays is not the number of cities we visit, but the moments we create with our families,” wrote Sheikh Mohammed, who serves as Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE.
He added that such moments carry lasting value: “Beautiful memories bring happiness and give us the energy to keep working, achieving and succeeding.”
Response to the post came fast, drawing a wave of comments from followers who welcomed both the sentiment and the rare look at the Ruler away from official settings.
Personal reflections of this kind are familiar territory for Sheikh Mohammed, who periodically opens a window onto his private life to underline how much weight he gives to family and to the bonds that hold it together.
