Commuters arriving at the capital’s passenger rail terminal now have two dedicated bus connections to carry them onward, following the rollout of fresh transit links by Abu Dhabi Mobility.
The MR1 and MR2 routes both start from the Mohamed Bin Zayed City Rail Station, running in both directions to give Etihad Rail travelers a way to reach the rest of the city without switching to private transport. MR1 terminates at the Main Bus Station, while MR2 ends its run at Al Zahiyah Bus Station.
Passengers boarding MR1 pass through stops that include Al Jazeera Club, Al Mushrif Mall and the Al Rawdah interchange before reaching the Main Bus Station. Those taking MR2 travel via the Al Rawdah interchange and the Mazyad Bus Interchange, with the line finishing near ADCB headquarters and Hazza’a Mosque at Al Zahiyah.
The transport authority confirmed the launch on X, stating: “We have launched MR1 and MR2 lines to connect Mohammed bin Zayed City Train Station to the Main and Al Zahya Bus Stations, both ways.” The post added: “We wish you a smooth and comfortable journey.”
Riders can pull up timetables for the two lines through the Darb app or the authority’s website.
The Mohamed Bin Zayed City station functions as Abu Dhabi’s central point for rail passengers, tying the emirate into Etihad Rail’s growing network of services that reach across the country.
