Every peso collected from taxpayers must be returned through honest, high-quality public service, Mayor Joy Belmonte said as Quezon City secured another favorable mark from government auditors.
The Commission on Audit handed the local government an unmodified opinion, the sixth year running that the capital region city has earned the rating. In a weekend statement, city officials explained that the designation confirms its financial statements accurately depict its fiscal standing and adhere to the accounting and reporting rules required of government units.
The city described the result as proof of the “the accuracy, reliability and integrity of the city’s financial records and transactions.”
For Belmonte, the auditors’ verdict signals that the local government has stayed faithful to safeguarding public funds and directing them toward services that reach residents. She tied the outcome to the daily conduct of city personnel.
“Receiving this recognition for the sixth straight year reflects the discipline, professionalism and integrity that guide the work of our city government every day,” she said. “We view good financial management not simply as a compliance requirement, but as a responsibility to every QCitizen who places trust in us. This achievement inspires us to continue strengthening our systems and raising the standards of public service.”
Belmonte, who is serving her final term as mayor, pointed to transparency and accountability as fixed priorities in how the city is run.
