A criminal case involving the unauthorised sale of Mounjaro injections has reached the Sharjah Misdemeanor Court, where two defendants stand accused of putting public health at risk by trading the diabetes and weight-loss medication without proper licensing. A third individual was brought into the same proceedings on a separate allegation tied to running a financial operation without legal authorisation.
The matter traces back to a social media account that authorities found advertising the injections for sale online. Because the medication is supposed to be dispensed only against a doctor’s prescription, the listings drew the attention of investigators, who began monitoring the account.
That digital trail led police to the first and second defendants, who were detained over their alleged role in distributing the medicine outside licensed channels. As the inquiry widened, officers identified a third suspect accused of handling money-transfer activity connected to the operation, again without securing the licence required to carry out such transactions.
When the case was presented in court, the first two defendants faced counts of endangering people’s health and lives through the sale of unlicensed medication and of practising pharmacy without authorisation. The remaining defendant was charged with conducting financial activity without a licence.
All three rejected the accusations against them. The court has set a later date to deliver its ruling.
