Bahrain-based Filipino groups team up for life-saving and SSS awareness training

Overseas Filipino Workers in Bahrain gained hands-on training in cardiopulmonary resuscitation, emergency assessment, and basic first aid through a community program organized to coincide with the 128th anniversary of Philippine independence.

The training was put together by the Bahrain Chapter of the Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineers of the Philippines (IIEE), headed by Engr. Adonis D. Resuello III, REE, LEED AP, MIET, MIES, working alongside the Philippine Nurses Association Bahrain (PNAB) under Ms. Cynthia Amar, RN, LPT. Organizers structured the sessions around Basic Life Support certification, with lectures and practical drills meant to prepare ordinary community members to act during medical emergencies.

Beyond the medical component, attendees went through fire fighting instruction that covered how to spot hazards, prevent fires, carry out evacuations, and operate firefighting equipment correctly. Organizers framed the segment as a way to build everyday safety habits applicable both at work and at home.

The program also set aside time for a Social Security System briefing aimed specifically at OFWs. Facilitators walked participants through membership requirements, contribution schemes, and the range of benefits available, positioning informed enrollment as a step toward longer-term financial security for workers abroad.

Engineers, nurses, healthcare workers, and volunteers made up the mix of participants and trainers, a turnout the organizers described as a reflection of bayanihan. The two groups said they intend to keep backing efforts tied to professional development, public health, safety awareness, and community service.

Organizers thanked the trainers, speakers, facilitators, volunteers, and partner organizations who took part, crediting their involvement with making the activity possible.
