Free gym access is back as Dubai Sports World returns for summer

Fitness enthusiasts in Dubai won’t have to pay a dirham to access top-tier gym equipment this summer. When Dubai Sports World opens its doors on 19 June, every visitor will have complimentary use of a fully outfitted gym featuring advanced cardio machines, functional training rigs, and dedicated strength zones — a standout draw among the venue’s wide slate of offerings.

The indoor sports and fitness hub, billed as the largest of its kind in the region, runs through 25 August. Now in its 16th year, the event is staged by Dubai World Trade Centre alongside Dubai Sports Council, operating daily from 8 am to midnight across 68 days of programming.

Beyond the free gym, visitors can take to courts and pitches for basketball, badminton, cricket, football, padel, pickleball, table tennis, tennis, and volleyball. An air-conditioned 1 km track caters to joggers and walkers chasing their step counts, while a supervised children’s zone, Dubai Kids World, offers inflatable slides, obstacle courses, adventure areas, and arts and crafts.

This edition introduces orienteering to the line-up, a discipline blending movement with navigation and problem-solving. Run in partnership with the UAE Orienteering Foundation, it invites participants of every age and ability to navigate the venue using map-reading and quick decision-making.

The calendar is anchored by several marquee dates. The opening day on 19 June rolls into a weekend of activities on 20 and 21 June, with Yoga Day activations also slated for the 21st. A summer league tips off on 8 August, and the season wraps on 25 August. Returning for its second outing on 27 June is the DSW Run-In Half Marathon, an indoor race that has carved out a following among the city’s runners.

Young athletes get their own track, too. Children between 4 and 14 can train under expert coaching through tie-ups with 17 elite academies, with disciplines spanning football, badminton, basketball, cricket, volleyball, tennis, cycling, and multi-sport camps. Among the partners are Barça Academy, Dubai Basketball Academy, Elite Sports Academy, G Force Cricket Academy, One Dela Cruz Sports Academy, Tennis 360, and Wolfi’s Cycling Academy, with try-out sessions and registration details available on each academy’s page.

Entry to the venue requires advance booking, which can be arranged through the official website or the DSW app. The app, downloadable on the App Store and Google Play, also generates QR codes for quick check-in.
