Football supporters in Saudi Arabia and the UAE who routinely trade sleep for kick-off now have a beverage built around their habits. PepsiCo has introduced Pepsi Night Edition, a limited run of its cola carrying an added caffeine boost, pitched squarely at audiences who follow major fixtures broadcast in the late hours.
The product ties into how football is consumed across the region, where marquee matches frequently air well past midnight. Rather than reformulate the flavour, the company kept its standard taste profile and layered in extra caffeine, positioning the drink as something to keep viewers alert through full ninety-minute stretches and beyond.
To put the launch in front of supporters, Pepsi is operating themed vending machines in both countries that dispense a complimentary Pepsi Awake Kit while supplies last. Distribution runs on a first-come basis, and each kit bundles a can of the Night Edition, a clip-on phone stand branded The Keeper that props up a device during play, and a glow-in-the-dark jersey produced specifically for the campaign.
The vending stops double as interactive booths. Attendees can have a jersey screen-printed on site and stamped with the precise time they collected it, turning each garment into a one-off item. The machines also function as Snapchat markers: users who photograph a unit, publish it and tag the brand register the spot on Snap Map and may receive a reply from Pepsi.
Karim Mohsen, who serves as Chief Marketing Officer for PepsiCo Middle East & Africa, framed the initiative around fan devotion. “Across the region, football fans go to incredible lengths to witness the game’s biggest moments. Whether it’s staying awake into the early hours, gathering with friends for watch parties, or following every minute from kick-off to the final whistle, the passion for football in this region is unmatched. Pepsi® Night Edition was created to celebrate those fans and give them the fuel they need to stay awake and enjoy every moment of the action. This season, Pepsi® is proud to own the night alongside them,” he said.
Dubai’s leg of the activation lands at The Beach JBR, scheduled for 20 June between 8:00 PM and 10:00 PM and again on 21 June from 10:00 PM to midnight. Riyadh hosts the remaining dates: the Tifo Fan Zone at Al Nakheel Mall opens on 15 June from 9:30 PM to 12:30 AM, followed by the Goal Park Fan Zone at ROSHN Front on 21 June (10:00 PM to 1:00 AM) and 22 June (7:30 PM to 10:30 PM).
Anyone hoping to claim a kit is advised to turn up well before the listed windows. Pepsi is directing fans to its Arabia accounts on Instagram, Snapchat and TikTok for further details.
