A social media post documenting how Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority responded to a resident’s complaint about a dirty signboard has gone viral on Instagram, racking up hundreds of thousands of likes and turning a routine maintenance request into a feel-good story about the city’s responsiveness.
The post, shared by content creator Tanweer Ahamed, lays out a simple sequence. In a direct message to the verified @rta_dubai account, he wrote that the signboard at World Trade Centre Metro Station “appears very dirty and unclear,” noting that this “may affect visibility for commuters and visitors,” and attached photographs for reference. RTA replied that it had forwarded the observation “to the concerned department for further investigation and to do the needful.” The following day, according to the post, the signage had been cleaned — a before-and-after captured under the caption “Next Day.”
Overlaid on the footage is the line that became the post’s emotional hook: “Trust me, this country will make it happen.” The reel has drawn more than 334,000 likes and thousands of comments, with the creator’s pinned reply summing up the mood: “No drama. Just results.”
World Trade Centre Metro Station sits on the Red Line along Sheikh Zayed Road and has served commuters since the Dubai Metro opened in 2010, making it one of the network’s busier central stops. The signboard in question marks the station entrance near the Dubai World Trade Centre complex.
The episode echoes a reporting system the RTA has actively promoted. The authority has encouraged residents to flag damaged or unclear public infrastructure — including directional signs — by sending photos through official channels such as its WhatsApp service and “Mahboub” chatbot, describing public participation as a way to help preserve the city’s appearance and prompt quick fixes.
The comments section filled with praise framing the response as characteristic of the UAE. One user, with.raghd, wrote that “in the UAE, everyone is Emirati,” thanking the creator for the message, while another, basheerahmd14, described “a country that values people above everything else.” The creator responded in kind, calling it “a country built on opportunity, respect, and care.”
