Dubai-based Martin Miguel advances to ‘Top of the Clash’ in GMA’s teen singing tilt

A Filipino teen performer raised in Dubai has cleared the opening hurdle of GMA Network’s singing competition, earning a spot among the first batch of advancers on The Clash Teens.

Martin Miguel was named to the “Top of the Clash” following the show’s June 7 premiere, joining fellow Clashers Violette Sta. Cruz and Beza Trestiza as the first young singers to move a step closer to the next round. The three later reprised their winning performances on GMA’s noontime program TiktoClock on June 10.

Better known to the UAE Filipino community under his full name, Martinus Miguel Castro Obispo, the singer is the son of a Filipino expat couple from Laguna who settled in Dubai in 2007. He first drew attention in 2024 after bagging multiple awards at the World Championships of Performing Arts in Long Beach, California, where he took honors that included a junior multi-medalist distinction and a gold medal in the vocal R&B, soul, and jazz category. A student in Dubai, he has long set his sights on a professional singing career, citing the late Michael Jackson among his influences.

His advance on The Clash Teens places a homegrown UAE talent on one of Philippine television’s most prominent youth platforms. The first-ever teen edition of the Kapuso singing franchise features Filipino singers aged 14 to 19 and runs for 14 episodes, with returning Clash Masters Julie Anne San Jose and Rayver Cruz and a judging panel led by Christian Bautista, alongside Jillian Ward and BGYO’s JL Toreliza.

He was also named a Special Icon Award recipient at The Global Filipino Icon Awards 2025 in Dubai.

The Clash Teens airs every Sunday at 7:15 p.m. on GMA, with the competition set to reveal which contenders advance next.
