The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) has issued a warning about a new scam targeting individuals seeking employment in Saipan, a territory of the United States in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. Scammers, claiming to be connected with legitimate companies in Saipan, are offering fake job opportunities, particularly in hotel direct hiring.
These fraudulent schemes are conducted online, where scammers request sensitive personal information through email, under the guise of securing a place in the final selection process. Victims are then asked to transfer money and subsequently, the scammers become uncontactable.
The DMW urges the public to exercise caution and avoid falling for such scams. They remind job seekers to ensure their applications and documents go through the DMW to guarantee legitimacy and security.
