UAE opens nationwide loyalty pledge to all residents through online platform

Anyone living in the UAE can now formally declare their devotion to the country and its leaders without leaving home, thanks to a digital platform that hosts the newly expanded Pledge and Commitment initiative.

The programme first appeared in May during a ceremony at the Abu Dhabi Energy Centre, where Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, formally introduced it. That opening event attracted upwards of 4,800 attendees, a crowd that spanned Emiratis and foreign residents alike and included students, scholars, investors, corporate figures and people representing the country’s many communities. Organisers have since opened participation to the wider public by way of a website at pledge.ae.

Four guiding principles anchor the effort: fostering unity and shared coexistence, taking cues from the values embodied by the President’s leadership, deepening both civic duty and a sense of national identity, and acknowledging gratitude for what the country has accomplished. Together, these give citizens and residents a structured way to voice their attachment to the nation and their fidelity to its leadership.

Signing on is straightforward. Visitors to pledge.ae read the text of the pledge and add their signature electronically, a task that requires only a few minutes. Those who finish receive a Certificate of Appreciation bearing their name, which can be saved and posted across personal social media accounts as both a memento and a public display of national pride.

At the heart of the exercise is a declaration in which the signatory pledges loyalty to the UAE and those who govern it, vows to live peacefully, commits to handing down the nation’s values to coming generations, and promises to support its ongoing advancement.

The wider ambition is for the initiative to grow into a sustained national movement that blends community involvement, online participation and public events to reinforce a collective sense of belonging in a society where Emiratis and long-settled residents from every part of the globe occupy the same neighbourhoods, classrooms and offices.
