‘Pagod na pagod na siya’: Ser Geybin pauses content work to recover

The relentless pace of producing daily videos has finally caught up with one of the country’s most-watched creators. Gavin Capinpin, the YouTuber millions know as Ser Geybin, is pausing his content work to attend to his physical and mental wellbeing after a health scare landed him in the hospital.

Word of his condition reached followers through a clip posted Tuesday, June 2, in which the people closest to him appealed for prayers. According to the video, he was brought to a hospital after experiencing breathing trouble and stiffness in his body.

What the family chose not to spell out were the clinical specifics. Instead, they described a man quietly buckling under the weight of prolonged stress, pressure, and grief — a struggle largely hidden behind the cheerful persona his audience sees.

His longtime partner, Elma Asagra, said much of what he had been carrying only became clear to her recently.

Among the burdens she pointed to was a loss he has never fully moved past. “Sobrang lungkot niya kasi wala (passed away) si Tito Peddy (Ser Geybin’s father). Isa ‘yun sa dinadala niya hanggang ngayon.”

Asagra went on to describe a creator running on empty, unsure of how to keep finding reasons to push forward yet unable to stop. Paano si Tita (his mother)?

She added that the sense of obligation had become its own trap.

Much of that pressure traces back to the role he assumed within his own household. A former teacher who built a following on pranks, challenges, and travel content, the eldest of three siblings became the family’s main provider after his father’s death in 2021.
