Two members of the House of Representatives have been designated as official spokesmen for the prosecution panel in the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte.
Lanao del Sur 1st District Rep. Zia Alonto Adiong and Kabataan Rep. Renee Co will serve as the panel’s public-facing representatives, according to Batangas 2nd District Rep. Gerville Luistro, the House’s lead public prosecutor, who disclosed the appointments at a press conference Tuesday.
Adiong acknowledged the designation and expressed appreciation for the responsibility, saying he extends his “heartfelt gratitude to the distinguished 11-member prosecution panel and to the House of Representatives for the trust and confidence they have reposed in me.”
The Lanao del Sur lawmaker framed his role as a constitutional duty. “I am grateful for this opportunity to serve the Filipino people in upholding the rule of law and the principles enshrined in our Constitution,” he said.
Adiong also addressed how the panel intends to conduct its case, saying: “Together with my colleagues in the prosecution panel, we remain steadfast in our resolve to present the evidence with clarity, fairness, and transparency. We are guided solely by the pursuit of justice and the public interest, ensuring that this historic process strengthens our democratic institutions.”
