More than two years before the next national elections, Vice President Sara Duterte is showing early strength in hypothetical 2028 presidential matchups, according to a new Pulse Asia Research Inc. survey.
The poll — conducted from February 27 to March 2 and commissioned through rider questions from the office of Sen. Juan Miguel Zubiri — tested one-on-one scenarios between potential candidates. Against Naga City Mayor Leni Robredo, Duterte posted 51 percent support compared to Robredo’s 43 percent, an eight-point gap. In a separate head-to-head against Sen. Raffy Tulfo, both figures landed at 46 percent — a statistical tie.
Duterte has already formally declared her intention to seek the presidency in 2028, making her the only announced candidate among those tested in the survey. Robredo and Tulfo, by contrast, have each said publicly they are not considering a run.
The survey results place all three figures among the leading names in voter preference at this stage of the election cycle, despite the race being far from settled.
