Emirati boy who saved sister dies in Ras Al Khaimah drowning

A 13-year-old Emirati boy was pronounced dead upon arrival at Saqr Government Hospital in Ras Al Khaimah on Tuesday after drowning at Flamingo Beach, an area located behind the Saudi Institute. He had pulled his 7-year-old sister to safety before succumbing to the water himself, according to Gulf News.

Three children survived the incident — the younger sister and two cousins, aged 8 and 9 — and were treated at Saqr Hospital before being discharged the following day in stable condition.

Funeral prayers were conducted Wednesday at Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Mosque, drawing a large crowd of mourners. The boy was laid to rest at Al Salhiya cemetery in Ras Al Khaimah.

His father described a son who had come home beaming in his final days, report card in hand, and had asked for an iPhone 17 as a reward for his strong academic performance. “He was happy and proud of his results,” the father said.

A medical source confirmed that all necessary procedures were completed at Saqr Hospital before the boy’s body was released to his family.
