Twelve people sustained injuries after fragments from intercepted aerial threats landed in the Ajban area of Abu Dhabi, the emirate’s media office announced Friday.
The casualties were predominantly South Asian nationals. Five Indian citizens were among the wounded, alongside six Nepali nationals who suffered minor to moderate injuries. A twelfth victim — also a Nepali national — was reported in serious condition.
The UAE Ministry of Defence had earlier confirmed that air defence systems successfully neutralised incoming missile and drone threats. Residents in parts of the emirate reported hearing sounds attributed to those active interception operations, authorities explained.
Emergency teams were deployed to affected zones, where they secured the areas and delivered medical care to those hurt by the falling debris.
At the Habshan gas facilities, a separate debris impact triggered a fire and prompted a temporary suspension of operations. Authorities confirmed no one was injured at that location.
Abu Dhabi officials cautioned the public against spreading unverified information, urging residents to follow only official channels for updates on the situation.
