From AED2.40 to AED3.20: Here’s how much more you’ll spend on petrol this month in UAE

Diesel will bear the steepest increase among fuels sold in the UAE this month, rising to AED4.69 per litre from AED2.72 — a surge tied to deepening supply disruptions stemming from the ongoing conflict involving the United States, Israel and Iran.

The UAE Fuel Price Committee has released April 2026 rates effective from April 1, with all fuel grades posting significant gains. Super 98 petrol moves to AED3.39 per litre from AED2.59, Special 95 climbs to AED3.28 from AED2.48, and E-Plus 91 rises to AED3.20 from AED2.40.

The increases reflect a dramatic shift in global crude markets. Brent crude averaged above $92 per barrel during the first three weeks of March, up from $68.92 the previous month. That price spike followed the February 28 outbreak of hostilities, when the US and Israel struck Iranian military and leadership targets.

The situation deteriorated further when the Strait of Hormuz — a chokepoint through which roughly 20 percent of the world’s daily oil supply passes — was closed to commercial shipping and tankers. Attacks on energy infrastructure in both Iran and Qatar compounded fears about sustained supply shortfalls.

The UAE has pegged its retail fuel prices to international benchmarks since deregulating the sector in 2015. March had already reversed a two-month declining trend across all three petrol grades, and analysts had flagged April increases as likely given the three-week oil price rally that preceded the committee’s review.

The prolonged conflict has begun weighing on consumer and business confidence globally, with markets registering continued pressure alongside the supply-side constraints now embedded in fuel pricing across multiple countries.
