Five Indian workers hurt after missile debris sparks fires in Abu Dhabi industrial zone

Two fires erupted in Abu Dhabi’s Khalifa Economic Zones after debris from a downed ballistic missile landed in the area, authorities confirmed, as the UAE’s air defenses engaged a wave of cruise missiles and drones launched by Iran.

The Abu Dhabi government media office described the fires as a consequence of a “successful interception,” with falling debris igniting within the industrial corridor. Five Indian nationals sustained injuries in the incident, ranging from moderate to minor, according to a separate official statement.

Iran’s strikes came roughly a month after the regional conflict escalated, with Tehran pressing attacks into the Gulf even as UAE defense systems worked to neutralize incoming threats. The country’s defense ministry confirmed air defenses were actively responding to the Iranian cruise missiles and drones at the time.

The five injured individuals were the only casualties reported from the incident.
