ICYMI: Dubai Metro and Tram to run longer hours during Eid Al Fitr holiday

Public parking across Dubai will be free for the duration of Eid Al Fitr, the Roads and Transport Authority has confirmed, with the exemption covering all public parking zones from the first to the last day of the three-day holiday — though multi-storey facilities are excluded from the waiver.

The Eid break is expected to run from March 19 to 21.

Alongside the parking measure, the RTA has adjusted transit schedules to accommodate higher ridership during the holiday period. The Dubai Tram will run from 6am to 1am, while the Metro will maintain its earliest departure time of 5am and extend operations until 1am — hours that go beyond the authority’s standard weekday cutoff of midnight.

The adjusted Metro and Tram timings will be in effect from March 18 to 22, bracketing the official holiday on either end.

Under normal scheduling, Metro service on Sundays begins only at 8am — two hours later than on other days — and Friday nights are the only time the network typically runs past midnight. The Eid schedule effectively brings extended hours across the entire period, regardless of day.

The RTA has also released its own service hours for the holiday, covering customer-facing operations during the break.
