Fujairah’s air defence systems successfully intercepted an incoming drone on Tuesday morning, authorities in the emirate confirmed, though falling wreckage from the engagement ignited a fire within the Fujairah Oil Industry Zone.
Emergency crews were dispatched to the industrial area and brought the blaze under control, the Media Office of Government of Fujairah said. Operations across the zone have since returned to normal.
The interception adds to a series of aerial threats neutralized by the UAE’s defence infrastructure in recent days, as missile and drone attacks have targeted the country amid a broader escalation of hostilities across the Middle East. Authorities have pointed to the repeated successful engagements as evidence that the nation’s defence systems are operating effectively and remain at a high state of readiness.
No injuries resulted from the fire or the interception, according to Fujairah officials, who also called on the public to rely solely on official state channels for information and to refrain from spreading unverified claims.
