The Department of Migrant Workers and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration mobilized assistance teams following the return of dozens of overseas Filipino workers who had been stranded at Hong Kong International Airport before completing their journey to the Middle East.
Fifty-seven workers originally headed to Abu Dhabi arrived back in Manila in the early hours of Monday, March 2, 2026, after the transit disruption left them unable to continue to their destination.
Both the DMW and OWWA confirmed that personnel were dispatched to receive and support the returning workers. The agencies did not specify what caused the stranding.
Officials also addressed the broader situation facing OFWs with deployments to the Middle East, pledging ongoing oversight and welfare support as tensions in the region continue to be a concern for labor authorities.
