As military hostilities spread across the Middle East following US and Israeli strikes on Iran, Qatar’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry has stepped in to reassure the public that shelves are stocked and market conditions remain under control.
The Ministry confirmed that goods and products are available in large quantities at retail outlets across the country, with supply chains described as functioning normally. The announcement came as neighboring states closed their airspace and missile exchanges were reported over Gulf cities including Doha.
To prevent panic-buying and price gouging during the period of heightened uncertainty, field inspection teams have been deployed across markets and retail outlets throughout Qatar. Those teams are tasked with monitoring supply conditions, enforcing compliance among suppliers, and identifying any violations — with legal action to follow where breaches are found.
The Ministry also announced a coordinated measure with major retailers to extend operating hours, with 22 branches now running around the clock across all regions of the state. The move is intended to ensure that residents have uninterrupted access to essential goods regardless of how the security situation develops.
Consumers were called on to report any irregularities or suspected violations through officially approved channels. The Ministry can be reached at 16001, +974 66111400, or through its website at moci.gov.qa.
Qatar’s airspace was among those affected by the regional disruption Saturday, with Iranian missile launches targeting sites across the Gulf prompting widespread flight cancellations and airspace restrictions across the region.
