A Pakistani citizen died following Iranian missile strikes that hit the UAE and several other countries in the region, prompting Abu Dhabi to offer condolences to the victim’s family while issuing one of its sharpest diplomatic rebukes in recent memory.
The UAE’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the attacks as a flagrant violation of national sovereignty and a breach of both international law and the UN Charter. Officials described the targeting of civilians and civilian infrastructure as conduct rejected under all legal and humanitarian norms.
Solidarity with affected neighboring states formed a central thread of the UAE’s statement, with MoFA asserting that regional security is indivisible — framing any assault on one country’s sovereignty as a direct threat to the broader stability of the Gulf and beyond. The ministry also warned that continued violations of this nature carry grave consequences for global economic stability and energy security.
Abu Dhabi explicitly rejected the notion that regional territories could be used as battlegrounds for settling external disputes or widening the scope of armed conflict, a pointed signal directed at what it characterized as Iranian expansionism.
While calling for restraint and a return to diplomacy, the UAE simultaneously put down a firm marker: it reserves the full and legitimate right under international law to respond to the attacks in whatever manner it deems necessary to protect its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the safety of both citizens and residents. Officials stated the country would not accept any compromise to its security under any circumstances.
