Dubai Health Authority (DHA) has embarked on a comprehensive influenza vaccination drive targeting various sectors across the Emirate, including government departments, private schools, and labor accommodations. This initiative, running until the end of February, aims to bolster the community’s health security and curtail the spread of infectious diseases.
Seasonal influenza, particularly prevalent during the winter months, can significantly impair daily activities due to its severe symptoms. As part of the national effort to combat this illness, DHA’s campaign is critical in maintaining public health, especially among high-risk groups.
Dr. Butti Al Suwaidi, a Public Health Specialist at DHA, highlights the campaign’s importance in the broader national strategy against seasonal influenza. This includes educational efforts by public health professionals on the vaccine’s benefits and the necessity of immunization to prevent severe complications from influenza.
The campaign, led by DHA’s Public Health Protection Department, is focused on preventative measures to limit the spread of influenza and safeguard individual health within the community. Dr. Al Suwaidi urges community members, especially those at higher risk, to proactively get vaccinated. The vaccine is particularly recommended for pregnant women, children between 6 months and 5 years, the elderly over 65, individuals with chronic medical conditions, and healthcare workers.
