OFW arrested at NAIA for marrying again without ending first marriage

Authorities apprehended a 56-year-old overseas Filipino worker at the departure section of Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 after immigration checks flagged an outstanding arrest order tied to a bigamy case.

Airport officials confirmed that the warrant was issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 8 in Manila. Court records show the case carries a recommended bail of ₱24,000.

The arrest was carried out by personnel from the NAIA Police Station 1 working alongside the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group – NCR Field Unit. The coordinated team served the court-issued warrant shortly after the individual was identified during routine screening procedures.

Following the arrest, the accused was transferred to the custody of the CIDG NCR Field Unit – Southern Metro Manila District Field Unit. Officials said the suspect will undergo documentation and other required legal processes.

Bigamy, under Philippine law, involves entering into another marriage while a prior marriage remains legally valid. The offense is punishable under the Revised Penal Code.
