Actor Dingdong Dantes has accepted an apology from a social media user who circulated a fabricated statement linking him to Vice President Sara Duterte’s 2028 presidential bid.
The controversy stemmed from a viral post that attributed a quote to Dantes suggesting he had expressed support for Duterte’s candidacy. The statement, which referenced her father, former President Rodrigo Duterte, quickly gained traction online and drew nearly 80,000 reactions before being taken down.
Dantes addressed the matter publicly on Facebook on Feb. 20, posting a screenshot of the spurious quote and clarifying that he never made such remarks. In his caption, he wrote, “Hindi ko ‘to sinabi.”
The Facebook user who originally shared the claim later removed the post and issued a public apology to the actor.
She added, “Galing TikTok/Threads ‘yun.
Following the apology, Dantes released a separate message confirming that he had accepted it.
“Apology accepted. Peace!”
